What’s up, I’m Papa Book and today I want to talk about my journey of selling books online. First off, I started retail arbitrage in February 2016 after reading Chris Greene's book on the topic. As I started buying things to flip I made several mistakes which meant most of my inventory was useless. I had spent all of the money I set aside to invest and was slightly disappointed. I was no longer able to flip things like: remotes, electronics and the like because I didn't have the cash to buy them. Eventually the lack of capital lead me to selling books.
I remember watching YouTube videos of guys like Reezy Resells and Jim Pickins. These guys are really motivating and inspiring. They were reselling books and they were showing exactly how they did it. Watching these guys hustle and seeing the money they were making fueled my desire to sell books. I was fascinated and immediately hooked because it didn't take a lot of money to initially purchase the books.
Next thing I know I'm at thrift stores and library sales purchasing ton's of books to send into Amazon FBA. I love scanning books and finding profit wherever it may be. I've sourced at all types of places like yard sales, dollar stores and even craigslist. Whenever I'm out shopping for groceries I try to see if the store has a book section I could scan at. Selling books with Amazon has been fairly simple and I feel like the best is yet to come as I continue my book selling journey.
I love building my Amazon inventory up week by week. Staying consistent has been the name of the game. I see a direct correlation between sales and the number of books I send in. The more shipments I make to Amazon the bigger my checks have been.
Another cool thing about selling books on Amazon is that my personal book collection has grown a lot. It's not unusual for me to find a book or two that interest me when I'm out sourcing. I'm a big fan of personal improvement, writing and business I've been finding a lot of good titles for cheap. Recently, I picked up a copy of Crucial Conversations (a really good book on resolving conflict and better communication) at a local Good Will for only a quarter.
Book reselling has become a hobby of mine and I want to share it with the world. Make sure to check out therichbookseller.com/ Also hit me up on Twitter (@richbookseller) and Tumblr (therichbookseller).
