This product has been sitting in my inventory since I first started Amazon FBA and it's still there...
It was a Disney 3 ball Minnie Mouse set that I paid $7 for hoping to flip it for $24 but it just wouldn't sell! The reason is that when I first started Amazon FBA I was using an app called profit bandit to source my inventory. Profit bandit is an amazing app that I really loved, it was cheap ($10/month) reliable and gave me the results I needed at the time to make decisions. I used it vigorously during my starting days.
Once I started learning more and more about FBA particularly sales rank I had to switch away from Profit Bandit. The reason being was that I was doing more work than I had to. You see I was looking at sales rank in addition to camelcamelcamel to get an idea of when a product sold. Although these are two great programs the problem is that you'll still only be guessing as to when or how fast a product will sell.
What am I getting at?
I found a better way to get a more accurate picture of when a product will sell and that is by using average sales rank. That gives me a much clearer picture as to how fast a product will sell. Let me give you a few examples.
To the left you can see my favorite app to go scanning with which is FBAscan. I love this app because it makes my life easier by giving me the average sales rank. You can see the average amazon sales rank of the book above is 1.34M which lets me know that the book takes a while to sell.
Let's take a look at another example.
We can see that the second example below shows a book with an average sales rank of 10.2K. I have much more confidence in buying this book because I know it will sell fast! Again the point that I want to make is that to get a clearer picture as to how fast an item will sell you should look at the average sales rank of that item.
